DR CHLOE HARRISONChartered Senior Clinical Psychologist, BSc (Hons), DClinPsy
I am a highly experienced Clinical Psychologist, offering evidence-based psychological assessment, formulation and therapy. I work with adults experiencing a wide range of psychological and emotional difficulties. I have specialist interests in trauma and attachment and often find that my work involves helping people to understand and overcome patterns that have emerged from childhood. I am trained in a number of different therapeutic approaches including Schema Therapy, Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy, Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT) and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) skills.

I am an empathic and approachable person who recognises how daunting therapy can feel. Following an initial assessment, we would decide together if I am the right ‘fit’ for you. The best treatment approach would then be discussed and any therapy offered would be tailored to your current difficulties, values and goals.

Please contact me via email to enquire about availability and fees.

EMMA COOPERAccredited Art Therapist
I became a registered Art Therapist in 2016, and I work in York and the surrounding area. I provide a judgement free space for people to explore their thoughts and feelings through art or talking therapy.

I have worked with people dealing with many difficulties and tailor interventions to suit each person’s individual needs. I work to help and encourage people to better understand thoughts, feelings and behaviours.

I have experience in working with young people in the City of York’s Specialist Teaching Team and the Traveller and Ethnic Minority Team, supporting the inclusion of young people with special educational needs in schools (SEND). I also worked at an NHS in-patient mental health setting working on a women’s ward.

I have worked with York Mind since 2018 working with adults and from 2022 as a 1-1 Young People’s Counsellor, offering both talking counselling and art therapy for Young People aged 12-25. Art therapy is a form of psychotherapy that uses art media as a form of expression and communication. There may be things which you cannot say in words, this could be because the emotions are too distressing, you may struggle to identify how you are feeling, or because something is hard to say or talk about.

Art therapy offers you a safe space to share something that is affecting how you feel, think or behave. The session time is yours to use as you want to, whether through art or talking, I am here to support you.

FEDERICA MARINO-FRANCIS MA Psychother, PG Cert Counselling Supervision, DIT Accredited Practitioner,BA (Hons), UCKP registered
I am a UKCP registered Psychodynamic Psychotherapist and qualified Clinical Supervisor. My core therapeutic model is psychodynamic psychotherapy, but I have undergone other trainings over the years, such as the Foundation Course in Family and Systemic Therapy and Dynamic Interpersonal Therapy (DIT). In the past 20 years I have worked in statutory and voluntary organisations with clients from varied cultural contexts and age groups, in both brief and long-term psychotherapy. I have extensive experience of treating a wide range of psychological issues and I am particularly interested in early trauma.

Psychodynamic psychotherapy provides a safe and containing place to talk about and explore how you feel and to understand what might be causing your difficulties.
Psychodynamic psychotherapy focuses on the unconscious part of the mind, a part of which we are not aware. One of the central ideas in psychodynamic therapy is that when something is very painful, we tend to ignore it. Most of the time we know when we are doing this, but sometimes we bury something so successfully that we lose sight of it completely. Therefore, difficult experiences in the past can continue to affect the way we feel and behave in the present. The goal of psychodynamic psychotherapy is to reach self-awareness and to understand how the past affects present behaviours.

I aim to provide a professional, personalised and confidential service to clients who may be experiencing a wide range of psychological difficulties.
