I am a fully qualified and experienced Counsellor and a member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy. Through years of experience of dealing with many different situations. I have developed the in-depth knowledge and life experience to provide a real understanding and provide empathy to my client’s needs. I provide counselling for Adults, Couples and Adolescents. I am firstly a good listener and believe that by providing a calm, empathic, warm and supportive environment, where my clients can share and express their worries, fears and problems at a pace that matches their own personal needs.
Life is often unpredictable and challenging for us all, sometimes becoming overwhelming and difficult to navigate through. I am committed to providing you with a safe, confidential and non-judgemental space where we can work in collaboration to help you understand and overcome the barriers you face. I have many years experience supporting people with learning disabilities and their families along with anxiety, stress, depression and bereavement. I believe the key to effective collaboration is a trusting relationship . From that I employ an integrative way of working that is very focused on and what works best for you. If you have any questions then please don’t hesitate to contact me.
I am an experienced Counselling Psychologist registered with the HCPC (Health and Care Professions Council). I work with individuals aged 16 and over, experiencing a range of difficulties including eating disorders, anxiety, depression, trauma and PTSD, OCD, self-harm and personality disorder diagnoses. For some people, they are clear about the problems that they are experiencing and want to resolve through therapy, however other people may just have a sense that they are stuck, feel overwhelmed or are not behaving in ways that align with their values. Therapy can help to make sense of this and begin to overcome the barriers.
I use therapeutic approaches including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Dialectical Behavioural Therapy and psychodynamic therapy, and therapy is tailored to clients’ difficulties & goals. My approach is a balance of understanding what’s led to difficulties along with developing new strategies to better manage unhelpful thoughts, feelings and behaviours.
Engaging in therapy requires courage and the relationship between client and therapist is central. For some people it can take time to develop trust and so I offer both short and longer-term therapy. It is important that you feel that I am the right person to work with and so I offer a free 15 min telephone consultation. Currently I have availability for sessions in June.
My ambition in all my work is to provide a safe space in which you feel understood and cared about. Using Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), we will work together to make sense of your difficulties, alleviate distress, improve coping and enhance your resilience. During my 10 years of employment in the NHS, I have become skilled in using CBT to effectively treat a wide range of common mental health problems such as depression, anxiety and worry, panic, phobias, OCD and PTSD. I am a fully qualified and accredited therapist with the British Association for Behavioural & Cognitive Psychotherapies (BABCP).
Hello. My name is Mark. As you’re visiting this page, the chances are that you are experiencing some difficulties in your life.
After going through a period of extreme stress in my own working life, I decided that there had to be a better way and I am now a professionally trained and fully qualified counsellor, practising in Wetherby and Harrogate. I’m delighted to be part of the team that is being put together at the Wetherby Therapy Rooms.
I employ a Humanistic and person-centred approach and offer confidential, empathetic and non-judgemental help and support for all conditions, but particularly bereavement, anxiety, stress, and depression.
If any of these conditions, or perhaps some different or more complex or painful issues are blighting your life, I can help. My website has full details.
I have had the pleasure of being in caring professions all of my life. The first 18 years I spent as a nurse and now I have been working as a counsellor for the last 16 years.
